“The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.” – Maya Angelou
In my quest for finding what the word ‘home’ means for me, I have moved a lot. From busy suburbs to the rural farming community where I now live, I’ve experienced both the joys and pains of living in many different places. And each time I have learned a little more about myself, as well.
I discovered that at the heart of each move to a new place is the drive to create. Whether that means helping a musty old farmhouse come back to life after years of disrepair, or unveiling the sleeping beauty inside a neglected Queen Anne, I have enjoyed each and every project to the full.
Even the missteps along the way were valuable lessons. And in the end I have created homes for both myself and others to enjoy.
I've never really liked labels, I am this, I am that. But in the interest of introducing myself, I can say that I am many things: nurse, writer, photographer, poet, painter, gardener, friend, armchair philosopher, counselor, nature lover, home makeover aficionado, movie buff, practicing yogi, and aspiring world traveler. I think that's a pretty good list for now. I want to become a bigger part of the vital, creative force I feel deeply at work in the world and connect with other people who want to do the same.
