I’m excited to share that one of the pieces I’ve been working on combining my original poetry with a handmade print has been chosen for a new exhibition at the LARAC gallery here in Glens Falls, New York. I was fortunate to get a look at much of the other amazing work submitted by area artists, and I’m really glad to be in such great company. The exhibition, titled “Expressions,” will hang through the end of March.
Each print is made using natural materials and ink on a gel press (a technique I learned last summer and have been experimenting with), then I go back in and do a bit of drawing and highlighting. Lastly I add in the handwritten poem. I’ve gotten some nice feedback on this new project, and now having a piece in the show encourages me even more to keep on going.
I've never really liked labels, I am this, I am that. But in the interest of introducing myself, I can say that I am many things: nurse, writer, photographer, poet, painter, gardener, friend, armchair philosopher, counselor, nature lover, home makeover aficionado, movie buff, practicing yogi, and aspiring world traveler. I think that's a pretty good list for now. I want to become a bigger part of the vital, creative force I feel deeply at work in the world and connect with other people who want to do the same.
