New poem, “Mother’s Tongue”

“Mother’s Tongue” – with some help, I’ve been coming to understand how such a big part of my own story is the result of trying to retell one of the most difficult ones I witnessed in my mother. I always felt close to her in many ways, but in others I realize didn’t know her at all. Fortunately I was able to change mine, and am still here to tell both our stories now.

This poem also incorporates some new print artwork I’ve been working on as it’s background. Using the prints, I’m hoping to make my poems more visual as well as written, so that they become more like artwork, to be seen as well as read.
